about this site...
Before you read anything else on this site you should remember that although the site has been up for a long time now, and I know that those to whom it concerns have seen it, there has been no communication from them about any errors contained therein. One can assume therefore, that what is here, is accurate. If anyone reading this has anything to offer or finds anything which is inaccurate, please let me know and I will look at it, and, if necessary, make any changes or corrections; although I suspect that now that P McD Glass is closed, any such alterations are likely to be moot.
In saying that though, I thought I had my first real complaint recently when I received an email from someone with a bit of a gripe. However, it turned out to be something which had little or basis at all; which reinforces my feeling that it's difficult to complain when what you read is accurate. Despite all that, whilst I didn't remove the item referred to, I did change it; it had no real relevance anyway.
p mcd glass closed...

P McD Glass without the sign, and now closed
I would encourage you to read all of the information on this site so you can get the complete picture, but before you read about how and why Peter McDougall closed Perthshire Paperweights to start P McD Glass, you should be aware that Peter stopped production at his studio on Saturday, February 11th.

Peter waves goodbye...
The closure of P McD Glass comes just a couple of weeks after the tenth anniversary of when Peter closed Perthshire Paperweights.
His furnace has been acquired by Caithness Glass and, by the time you read this, will already be at their factory in Crieff. Whilst I did hope to have pictures of the move, when I got there, it was clear that it would be quite a while until the lorry arrived, and to be honest, I couldn't be bothered waiting around in the cold.
Peter knew I was there when I went through to get these pictures, yet still took the time to come out to give me a smile and a wave; isn't that nice?
For your benefit, security and peace of mind, my opinion is...
- Microsoft will NEVER phone you to tell you there is a problem with a file!
- You haven't won a lottery you didn't enter!
- There is NOT several million dollars sitting in a Nigerian bank waiting for you!
- There is no Loch Ness monster!
- And, P McD weights not that good!
OK! I can't be sure about the monster, but I think the others are true. Do not waste any more money on a weight made at the, now defunct, P McD Glass shed.
the purpose of this site
Throughout this site, there is plenty of accurate information about what caused the closure of Perthshire Paperweights, Peter's role in that closure, what he is doing now and how I think his behaviour is affecting on him now.
There is information about how he used his position at Perthshire to get his name out-there as the only person capable of producing a Perthshire Paperweight and also inferring many times that he was associated with all aspects of paperweight manufacture. However, he wasn't very good at lampwork, and some of the worst apprentices I ever had could facet better than he could.
The P McD page details more about what he done since he closed Perthshire, about his own business failing, about where he might go next and how all the misery he caused others may now taking a toll on him as he battles with depression.
Nothing on this site is made up. It is written from my own experiences of events at the time; events I witnessed myself, as well as first hand information from those with whom Peter now confides.
If anyone has any input and/or corrections for this site, don't hesitate to contact me. I spoke to Gordon Taylor just last week - Gordon is mentioned unfavourably on this site - and even he agreed that everything here is accurate! If you have any comments or disagree with anything I have written here, let me know, by sending an email to .
a small selection of Perthshire Paperweights
What was produced by Peter McDougall was NOT Perthshire Paperweights, it was PmcD Glass.
real PP weights V P McD glass
If, you have been looking at Peter McDougall's weights for so long, you can't quite remember what a quality Perthshire Paperweight looks like, which I think would be understandable, have a look at The Pictures Page of this site to see some weights made at Perthshire, and compare these to the sub-standard dross Peter produces; examples on the P McD Page.
